The Board praised the activities carried out during the past half of the year and approved the Action Plan for the year to come
The Spain Australia Council Foundation’s Board meeting was attended by the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Ignacio Ybáñez, who offered an overview of the state of bilateral relations.
The business lunch with Ambassador Manuel Cacho, the II Australian Leaders Programme and the recent Light Forum were the main activities carried out by the Council Foundation during this half of the year, and received great praise from the patrons. The Action Plan for 2017 includes plans for the III Australian Leaders Programme, one of the Foundation’s most salient activities.
Bilateral dialogues between Spain and Australia, similar in nature to the aforementioned Light Forum and backed or sponsored by the Council Foundation, are also among the activities planned for next year. Also in the pipeline are the Spain-Australia meetings, which involve the organisation of activities with Australian figures or dignitaries visiting Spain or Europe.
The Secretary General urged the patrons to consider the proposals made and seek new projects to carry out. The Council Foundation also continues its regular work as a platform for communication between the two countries through the information provided on its website and social media profiles. It will continue, in addition, with the permanent institutional work it does as part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation’s public diplomacy efforts.
It was deemed crucial that new patrons be integrated into this project to secure the Foundation’s growth and ensure it continues to be an all-important link between Spain and Australia and their societies, companies, institutions and cultures.
