Together with the other Secretaries General of the Council Foundation network explained the mission and activities
Mr. Josep Borrell, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, met the Secretary General of the SACF, Mr. Alonso Dezcallar and the other Secretaries General of the Council Foundation network.
During the meeting the Secretaries General explained the Minister Borrell their mission through their activities and the main areas where they are developed, mainly culture, science and technology, economy and business, society and education. They highlighted the importance of the role played by the Ministry in the coordination of the Foundations, as well as the excellent results of the Foundations in public and economic diplomacy.
This network is formed by 8 private non-profit organisations that work to strengthen and deepen bilateral relations with several countries considered priority countries within Spain's foreign policy as well as for the civil society interests. These countries are: Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, United States, India, Japan and Peru.
The Boards of this Council Foundations are integrated by representatives from both public and private sector. This public-private partnership makes the Foundations a unique instrument as a public diplomacy tool, and contributes in the better knowledge between countries.
The Presidency of the different Council Foundations are chaired by Presidents and High level executives of big companies like Navantia (SACF Presidency), ACCIONA, Telefónica, BBVA, MAPFRE, Técnicas Reunidas. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinates this network through the Secretaries General, members of the Spanish diplomatic corp. Actually, the Secretaries General are: Alonso Dezcallar (India, China, Japan and Australia), Manuel Lejarreta (United States) and Jaime Lacadena (Brazil, Colombia and Peru).

Spain-Japan Council Foundation, chaired by Josep Piqué, founded in 2001.
Spain-China Council Foundation, chaired by Juan Lladó (TÉCNICAS REUNIDAS), founded in 2004.
Spain-India Council Foundation, chaired by Juan Ignacio Entrecanales (ACCIONA), founded in 2009.
Spain Australia Council Foundation, chaired by Susana de Sarriá (NAVANTIA), founded in 2010.
Spain-Brazil Council Foundation, chaired by Antonio Huertas (MAPFRE), founded in 2011.
Spain-Colombia Council Foundation, chaired by Trinidad Jiménez (TELEFÓNICA), founded in 2015.
Spain-Peru Council Foundation, chaired by José Manuel González-Páramo (BBVA), founded in 2018.
