José Manuel Revuelta, Chairman of Navantia, replaced Juan-Miguel Villar Mir as Chairman of the Council Foundation
During SACF’s Board meeting, held at the offices of Grupo OHL at Torre Espacio in Madrid, Navantia Chairman José Manuel Revuelta took over the Chairmanship of the Spain Australia Council Foundation. Juan-Miguel Villar Mir said he was pleased with SACF’s consolidation over the years, and that it has become a useful tool for bilateral relations. Following approval of the Board members, Juan-Miguel Villar Mir will become Patron of Honour of the Council Foundation.
During his speech at his last Board meeting as Chair, Juan-Miguel Villar Mir expressed his gratitude for the support offered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. The Ministry’s representative, the new Director General for North America and Asia-Pacific, Fidel Sendagorta, accepted his new position on the board at the meeting and participated actively by taking the floor.
The Board approved the Plan of Action for 2016, which includes a new edition of the Australian Leaders Programme, which started in 2015 with extremely positive results. Other activities are a seminar on cybersecurity and a range of Spain-Australia bilateral dialogues and Spain-Australia meetings. These events will be reinforced by constant institutional activity, which allows for better cooperation with third-party institutions to attain bilateral goals through joint actions.
