The Board of the Spain Australia Council Foundation recently held a meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in Madrid.
The meeting voted on the Board’s proposal to appoint Navantia’s new CEO Esteban García Vilasánchez as Chairman. José Manuel Revuelta, who praised the Foundation’s work during the time he served as Chairman, became Patron of Honour.
Ferrovial and CAF joined the Board, and Juan Manuel Bonet, new Director of Instituto Cervantes; Eduardo Baeza, Head of Institutional Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility and new representative of MAXAM, and Ildefonso Castro, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, became SACF patrons.
Regarding the activities carried out during the first half of 2017, the attendees were given an overview of the III Australian Leaders Programme, which took place from 27 to 31 March. Other issues discussed were the preparatory meeting for the signing of a MOU with the association of Spanish Researchers in Australia-Pacific (SRAP) and SACF’s new initiative, "Testimonials", a series of short interviews to raise the profile of individuals who have played an important role in the development of bilateral relations.
The Foundation’s Secretary General, Alonso Dezcallar, also informed the patrons about the activities to be carried out during the second half of the year, such as a lunch meeting with the Ambassador of Australia to Spain, Timothy Kane, and SACF’s support for the Air Forum, organised by the association of Spanish Researchers in Australia-Pacific (SRAP) in Sydney and Canberra in the last quarter of 2017.
