Companies from both regions participate in Australia's leading food industry event, held in Sydney
Fine Food Australia is Australia's most important trade fair for professionals in the food, hospitality and retail industries, and one of the leading events in the southern hemisphere. With the aim of increasing the penetration of their products in the Australian market, the Regional Ministry of the Sea of the Xunta de Galicia and the Andalucía Trade agency of the Regional Government of Andalusia have organised the participation of companies from their respective regions in this event.
Galicia's participation includes Conservas La Brújula, Porto-Muíños, Conservas del Noroeste, Conservas Artesanas Gallegas, Conservas Portomar and Calvo Distribución Alimentaria. According to the Regional Government of Galicia, the Australian market is of particular interest to the seafood industry and has great growth potential.
The Director General of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Technological Innovation of the Regional Government, Cándido Rial, highlighted the importance of taking Galician seafood products to major international trade fairs in order to reach new potential customers and support the growth of the seafood industry in markets such as Australia, which offers great opportunities in the field of distribution and gourmet products.
Representing Andalusia are Luxeapers, Azzayt, Almazaras de la Subbética, Palacio Oliaxi, Oleoestepa and Grupo Ybarra Alimentación. According to the Andalusian agency, the Australian food and beverage market, worth over €78 billion, offers great opportunities for exporters of gourmet, high-quality and innovative products. Australia also serves as a gateway to the Asia-Pacific region and has a stable, dynamic market economy that is open to international trade.
Andalucía Trade highlights that the Andalusian products with the strongest presence in Australia are olive oil, olives, pork products, cereal preparations, and fish and seafood. However, there are other product categories with growth potential, such as vegan and organic foods, gluten-free specialities, regional products and pantry items in general (paprika, quince, saffron, etc.).
