Spanish company Wavegarden will build a new surf park in Australia

This will be the company's fourth project in the country; it already has a dozen facilities underway and more than 60 projects worldwide

Basque engineering firm Wavegarden is giving a new boost to its presence in Australia with the construction of a new surf park in Queensland. This project will be integrated into the Surf Farm complex, located on the Sunshine Coast. This facility will be the company's fourth in the country, following projects in Melbourne, Sydney, and Perth, and its first in Queensland. The initiative reinforces Wavegarden's position as a global provider of artificial wave generation technology and as a strategic partner for the development of surf-related leisure destinations.

The Queensland project will incorporate Wavegarden Cove technology, equipped with 62 modules capable of generating more than 25 types of waves adapted to different skill levels, from beginners to advanced surfers. The facility will combine the surf lagoon with a complementary offering of restaurants, shops, and event spaces, with the aim of creating a year-round active destination. Construction on the chosen site, near the Glass House Mountains, is scheduled to begin at the end of this year, according to the developers' timeline.

The expansion in Australia responds to the sustained growth in demand for surf parks and the country's consolidation as one of the most dynamic markets for this type of infrastructure. Wavegarden has highlighted that the new facility will allow for more personalized and safer experiences, with optimized energy efficiency and a design focused on maximizing operational capacity. The project also has the support of prominent figures in Australian surfing, who see Surf Farm as a boost for the local community and for sports tourism.

With this new project, Wavegarden, headquartered in Gipuzkoa, positions itself as a technological leader in the artificial surf industry. Its projects combine innovation, sustainability, and economic development. The opening of the Queensland park will help strengthen the brand's presence in the Asia-Pacific region and consolidate its leadership in a sector undergoing significant transformation.
