The VI Australian Leaders Program concludes with this meeting with Sophia McIntyre | View the Program Summary in PDF

The Spain–Australia Council Foundation and the Australian Embassy in Madrid maintain excellent relations and regularly collaborate on various activities. For instance, Ambassador Sophia McIntyre’s residence hosted the signing of the agreement through which RMIT Europe joined the Board of Trustees of the Spain–Australia Council Foundation.  This year, the Ambassador was also present at the presentation of the first Business Climate Barometer between Spain and Australia, prepared by the Foundation Council to mark the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

For this reason, the Australian Leaders Program always includes the Embassy in its schedule of activities. On this occasion, the Leaders concluded the Program with a lunch with Ambassador Sophia McIntyre, during which they discussed their trip to Spain and the experiences they had during the week.

Ambassador Sophia McIntyre holds a Law degree and a degree in Humanities from the University of Sydney, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Foreign Affairs and Trade from Monash University. She is a senior career official at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) of the Australian Government. Before taking up her post at the Embassy in Spain, she served as Assistant Secretary of the Southeast Asia Branch.
