María Victoria González Román is a Spanish diplomat with a long-standing career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation.
She holds a degree in Political Science and Sociology and joined the Spanish Diplomatic Service in 1991. Her international postings have included assignments at the Spanish Embassies in Gabon (1993), Bolivia (1994–1996), Belgium (1999–2004), and the Czech Republic (2004–2008).
She has held several senior diplomatic positions, including Minister-Counsellor at the Permanent Mission to the United Nations, Permanent Representative to the OSCE in Vienna, Ambassador at Large for the Alliance of Civilizations, and Ambassador at Large for the 2030 Agenda. Within the Ministry, she served as Director-General for Western, Central and Southeastern Europe, overseeing political relations with that region.
Her most recent overseas posting was as Ambassador of Spain to Denmark, a position she held from January 2022 to January 2025.
