El secretario general de la Fundación Consejo España-Australia, Alonso Dezcallar, expone a los participantes los objetivos de esta semana
The Secretary General of the Spain-Australia Council Foundation, Alonso Dezcallar, inaugurated the 4th Australian Leaders Program with the opening meeting of this year's participants, all renowned professionals in the field of infrastructure and transportation.
Alonso Dezcallar outlined the agenda for this fourth Leaders Program, organized with a dual objective: "firstly, for them to learn more about Spain; secondly, for them to have the opportunity to establish contacts with Spanish professionals in their sector."
The Secretary General also explained the structure and operation of the Foundation, whose work "is beneficial for both countries (...) Through this type of program, we contribute to bringing Spain and Australia closer together."
This closer relationship is necessary because, although, according to Alonso Dezcallar, Spaniards and Australians have many similarities, relations between the two countries are not as close as they could be, mainly due to two factors: distance and language. “When Spain began investing abroad, it focused on Latin America, for cultural and linguistic reasons. The same is true for Australia and the United Kingdom.”
To help foster this situation, the 4th Australian Leaders Program will show participants that, contrary to the usual clichés, “Spain is a competitive country with highly skilled professionals in general, and particularly in the sectors we will be discussing: infrastructure and transportation.”
The Secretary General of the Foundation concluded his presentation by wishing the four leaders a good week and expressed his hope “that they will participate, ask questions about everything they need to know, and share their experiences so we can compare what is done in Australia with what is done in Spain.”
