It organised a meeting with Spanish energy companies and the Ambassador of Australia to Spain to analyse the investment framework and the challenges facing the sector
The Spain–Australia Council Foundation held a roundtable last Wednesday 25 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation with the aim of promoting dialogue on the opportunities Australia offers in the field of the green energy transition. The event, which brought together members of its Board of Trustees and representatives of Spanish energy companies with investments in Australia, was attended by the Ambassador of Australia to Spain, Rosemary Morris-Castico.
The Ambassador shared with participants — together with Elena Laburu, Senior Advisor at Austrade — the country’s strategic vision and the main investment opportunities in the energy sector.
The meeting also provided a valuable platform for the exchange of experiences and perspectives among Spanish investors. It was conceived as an open and constructive dialogue aimed at identifying the factors influencing investment decisions, comparing Australia’s regulatory environment with that of other international markets, and analysing potential risks or barriers to the development of new projects.
During the discussion, participants also reflected on their medium- and long-term investment plans in Australia and on the role the country can play as a priority destination for Spanish investment in renewable energy and in projects linked to the transition towards sustainable energy models.
