The project will improve safety, connectivity, and resilience along the highway corridors
Construction company CIMIC, through its subsidiary CPB Contractors, was recently selected by the Queensland Government to carry out the Gateway to Bruce Expressway upgrade. CPB Contractors will undertake the project as part of the Gateway Connect joint venture, which includes BMD and Georgiou. Within this consortium, CPB Contractors is responsible for 40% of the contract value, which amounts to $950 million.
The project includes the construction of additional lanes, improvements to connections and curves, the replacement of an overpass, upgrades to sections of the Gateway and Bruce Expressways, as well as the Gympie Arterial Road interchange, and finally, fencing and underpasses for wildlife protection.
According to Juan Santamaría, CEO of the ACS Group, "CPB Contractors continues to build complex infrastructure that strengthens Queensland's transport network and contributes to the resilience of communities. This improvement will increase safety, reduce congestion, and future-proof the corridor against climate and demographic pressures, delivering long-term value for the people of Queensland."
