Iberdrola strengthens its presence in Australia

The acquisition of the Ararat wind farm consolidates its presence in Victoria and strengthens its supply capacity

Iberdrola strengthens its presence in Australia

In recent weeks, our parent company Iberdrola has announced two developments that strengthen its presence in Australia. The first is the acquisition of 100% of the Ararat wind farm, located in the state of Victoria. The acquisition of the 242 MW wind farm was made from Partners Group and OPTrust.

With this acquisition, Iberdrola reinforces its capacity to supply energy to its portfolio of business customers with their own generation in Victoria, a state that aims to achieve 95% renewable energy by 2035. This transaction, subject to customary conditions for this type of acquisition, will accelerate the company's growth in Australia, a market in which it plans to invest €1 billion by 2028.

Furthermore, Iberdrola also announced the development of Australia's largest private rooftop solar self-consumption system. To achieve this, Iberdrola has once again partnered with Sydney Markets, the country's largest food distribution center, with whom it has been working for over ten years. Iberdrola has designed, supplied, installed, and commissioned five solar projects totaling 3.2 MW. Once implemented, these systems will generate 11.6 GWh of solar energy annually.
