Sacyr advances to the final phase of the Brisbane Olympic Stadium tender

They will participate with the authority responsible for the infrastructure for the 2032 Olympics to test different alternatives before the final selection of the contractor

The Spanish construction company Sacyr, in partnership with the Australian firm Built, has been selected to advance to the final stage of the bidding process for the construction of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Stadium. Another joint venture, formed by John Holland and BESIX Watpac, is also participating in this final stage.

According to the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA), the authority responsible for the infrastructure for these Olympic Games, both joint ventures "bring extensive local capacity and broad stadium experience, with a track record of delivering some of Australia's most renowned infrastructure."

Over the next few months, both teams will work in collaboration with GIICA and the stadium design team to test construction approaches, identify efficiencies, and refine solutions before the final contractor selection, which will take place later this year. In a post on its LinkedIn profile, Sacyr expressed its commitment to collaborating with GIICA and contributing its expertise to propose "efficient and innovative solutions and deliver a world-class Olympic stadium."

Last February, Sacyr and Built signed a collaboration agreement to execute joint projects in Australia. Rafael Gómez del Río, CEO of Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructure, highlighted the importance of the agreement, stating, "Built and Sacyr share a vision of building smarter and more resilient infrastructure. By combining global capabilities with local strength, our alliance guarantees certainty, efficiency, and long-term value for our clients and communities."
