Before leaving Bilbao and bringing the program to an end, the Australian visitors had the opportunity to exchange views and working models with architect Andy Bäcker, founder of the startup Sustainable Reference and a professor at IE. Specializing in sustainability for 21 years, his personal challenge is to help create the greatest positive impact on the planet in the shortest possible time. He has lived in eight countries and graduated from the University of Manchester and the University of Michigan.
Andy Bäcker has an outstanding international reputation. He has also worked closely with William McDonough, a leading figure in the circular economy and creator of the “Wikipedia of sustainability,” collaborating on prestigious projects in both Europe and the United States. He is the designer of a sustainable “Wikipedia” that brings together all professional fields as well as private users, allowing them to explore a wide range of solutions—economic, social, and environmental.
