Research and Development in Fisheries and Marine Waste Management

Participants in the Australian Leaders Program visited AZTI, a technology centre that develops sustainable products, services and business initiatives related to the sea and food. PDF summary of activities

During the visit, the delegation learned about the work carried out by the centre in the field of marine research and innovation, particularly in relation to fisheries and the management of marine waste. AZTI works to promote sustainability in the marine environment by developing technological solutions that help improve fisheries management, protect marine ecosystems and encourage the responsible use of ocean resources.

The visit allowed the Australian participants to gain first-hand insight into some of the research and development initiatives being implemented in Spain in these areas. It also provided an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences on the challenges facing the sector, including sustainable fisheries, marine pollution and the circular economy linked to ocean resources.
